How rummy works, turn by turn
- Draw the top card of the stock or the discard pile.
- Lay down sets (three or four of one rank) or runs (three or more in sequence of one suit).
- Discard one card face up.
- Go out when every remaining card sits inside a meld, using the last discard to finish.
A worked example: with 4, 5 and 6 of clubs and three 9s, you hold two melds. If your last card is a lone king, you discard it and go out.
